Wow, what a beautiful day of being united in Christ!
We started by being greeted by a large group of kids and their mothers. They were so excited to share with us everything they have been doing in their children’s church time. The presentation allowed for us to learn that they have been taking an hour each Sunday to do bible studies and learn and grow in Jesus, and then another hour spent working on life skills and learning English to become more marketable in future careers. The group of moms have been attending business classes to help build businesses to benefit their church. My eyes filled with tears as I saw how proud they were of their progress and the excitement for their futures.
We then got to spend time in fellowship for several hours. Some of us played soccer with the boys outside, sweating completely through their clothes; some of us read books with the girls and worked on understanding each other’s languages; others braided hair; and still others found ways to help with little projects around and preparing food. This time overflowed our cups. To be able to show love despite a language barrier and vast cultural differences is unexplainably beautiful.
To wrap up our day, Pastor Shane was asked to share a message at the service. Emphasizing unity despite differences was the perfect way to end a day full of just that.
I could go on and on about everyone I have met and shared love with, but this post needs to end here. I promise if you see me after, this is all I will be able to talk about until the next time I come.
God is so Great and we are beyond blessed to be here with such an amazing community.
