VUKA ceremony

December 8th, 2019|0 Comments

All day Friday we continued to rely on God’s faithfulness to provide good weather for the VUKA (Rite of Passage) Camp graduation ceremony. God is good, we had sunshine in the morning as we helped the girls get ready for the big day. A sweet woman made traditional skirts for us as well. Despite the clouds rolling in God held off the rain all day. The celebration was filled with traditional songs, gifts, and

Last Day at Mt. Elgon

December 8th, 2019|0 Comments

Greetings from Gogo Diana. Gogo is grandmother in Swahili. Gogos are greatly respected in Kenya. My word for this week is transformation. When we first came, the girls were very quiet and reserved. They looked away when we glanced at them. They didn't engage with us when we were teaching. Day Two of camp

The team has been very busy and has had spotty coverage, here is a short update from day 2: We played games with girls today and it was so fun. They also had a sharing time tonight where they sang and told poems and some shared their stories. It continues to rain here and the mud is increasing everyday. We need prayers for the rain to stop, the land to dry up so the

Team Update!

Day 1: We had an adventurous day. A kind of planes trains and automobiles but for us it was planes buses taxis and moda modas which are motorcycle taxis. We remembered you can’t rely on your own plans. Missing our plane due to closed roads caused us to rely on God and his plans. We would have had a busy day if we had made our flight but due to circumstances beyond our control
