Today I did something way out of my comfort zone…I looked at teeth all day long and enjoyed it, not to mention in another country!!! I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would enjoy looking in the mouths of people. But I did. When you pray and serve the Lord with an open heart, miracles happen. I loved seeing the children come to the dentist clinic with happy faces and leaving with happy faces. Some were not so happy. One thing I did think about is that I have a newfound respect of what my dentist has to go through having to deal with me as a patient. Day one was so great seeing all the patients and knowing they are getting the care they need. I pray that the Lord continues to work in me and through me as I continue to serve this community and my team. Our team leader Jenni stated that we would be joyfully exhausted, and she was right! As exhausted as I am, I had a smile on my face the whole day as did the rest of the team and everyone serving alongside us. Can’t wait to see what else the Lord has in store for us.
What a great first day of clinic. We have such an amazing and selfless team and it is a joy to watch them use the gifts God has given them to serve the people of Guatemala. Thank you to everyone who is praying for us and to all of the wonderful people back home who are making sacrifices so that this week could happen. Please check back in tomorrow for day 2 and leave a comment…we would love to hear from you!
As someone who has a lot of dental problems, I’m really blessed to hear that you are tending to this need among the people you are serving. And sweet Susanna, I keep thinking how much Nana would love knowing that you are serving in a country that she visited and enjoyed so much. It brings Uncle Michael and me so much joy knowing that you are using your gifts to serve those in need in the name of Jesus. Praying for all of you! I imagine this will be as much a blessing to each of you as to those you are serving.
Looks like a great & amazing first day of Clinic. God doesn’t waste any time blessing all of you & the dear people of Guatemala. Janelle, I’m so proud of you stepping out in faith & allowing God to use you out of your comfort zone. It’s very encouraging to us all & an example to your friends & family. A T
Team Murray sending many prayers & love.
WOW! Great job Janelle!! It’s not easy jumping into something that is new, but it sounds like you did it with grace and gumption! (OK, blog title for tomorrow :) The clinic looks AMAZING! I am always so impressed at how you can take some school classrooms and turn them into a medical clinic in a matter of an hour or so. Thank you guys for taking your time, money and skills to show Guatemala you care about them. Excited to read more blog posts :)
Yes Janelle!!! That is so awesome, glad to hear how God is using you in Guatemala on the dental team! Love you lots
Hey Abby! I love seeing all the pics of you and your team doing awesome work for the kingdom. Praying for lots of energy and that everyone sees God move while you’re there. Eat some good fruit for me, love ya :)
It’s so fun to see those sweet familiar faces as well as the unfamiliar:) I pray you can all soak in the amazing experience God has in store for each one of you! Looks like your team is rockin’ it! Lol, hopefully Janet is saving you all from swearing at the kids in dental!
Oh, what wonderful pictures! What a blessing to see the familiar faces among both the team and the locals!!!!
Looking forward to hearing about Day 2 at the clinic!!!
XOXO
I’m so jealous!! What an amazing team! I love seeing the familiar and smiling faces. Keep up the great work!
Keep up the good work for all those smiling faces!
Thanks for posting all the pictures! We love to see the team and especially the faces of the people you are serving. We are praying for a continued fruitful and safe trip.(Also pray for us as we are sinfully proud of our daughter!)
The momentum continues! The energy behind the entire team is impressive. For the newbies, I wanted to make you aware there is a card shark amongst you, I won’t name names, but she is a she, and is the most unassuming one in your bunkhouse. Oh, and don’t let Corey on the soccer pitch unless you have a trauma nurse on the team. Love and prayers for each team member, your efforts will expand beyond what you could ever imagine!
To see all the familiar smiling faces warms my heart. Praying that your will all stay well, love abundantly, and be used by God in ways that increase your faith. ~Victoria
We serve an awesome God! Janelle so proud of you for stepping outside your comfort zone to serve Christ! What an example you are setting for the ones that are “too comfortable” in their own comfort zone. May God bless and continue to use your serving heart.
Cheering all of you on for the wonderful and needed service that you have brought to your patients in Guatemala. So impressed with what you can do with such limited resources and just your knowledge and skill brought with you. A big shout out and special thank you to Lucy, our wonderful daughter-in-law and emergency room Pediatrition, for the skills, knowledge and energy that she brings to the team. You all are amazing and are to be commended- I know you will come home with as many gifts as you have given. It warms our hearts to see such dedicated professionals willing to serve those who need medical care so desparately. Wishing that you all will stay well and will accomplish your goals.
It’s so exciting to see the much needed dental clinic space all completed! Janet, you look perfectly at home there as usual! Randy, seeing the picture of you with Pepe makes me laugh and wonder if he doing a good job of diagnosing all your patients for you again! I hope you all had a great day of rest and fun today in Antigua. Praying for God to show up in amazing ways during the rest of the trip! And if anyone places a tortilla order with Maria Jose, bring us a dozen too!
This looks like jaw dropping work!!! ;) I will keeping praying for this team as you are meeting so many physical needs. Love you Janelle!!
