Mindy:

As I woke up this morning and was reflecting on the past week, my heart is full of gratitude and the sweet and gentle love of Jesus.  What a blessing it has been to spend the week touching the hearts of the people of Guatemala and also getting to know new friends from our own SMCC community.  I am filled with so many feelings and emotions from the week.  There is both joy and sadness in my heart.   Joy as I begin to understand how important it is to see what perspective really means in our lives and sadness because I don’t want the week to end.  I came on this trip because my heart was called to help a country that I know is in dire need of resources and yet what I am leaving with is so much more than that.  These people have actually shown me what it means to live in a way that is for the love of Jesus.  A simple, loving, compassionate and authentic life of simplicity.  I can’t imagine that I would ever want to live any other way again.  I am forever grateful.

We started today by praying over the site of our new clinic in Santo Thomas and embracing the Guatemalan culture through a church worship service at Nueva Vida Guatemala. After the service was over, we spent the afternoon exploring many parts of Antigua.  I am always amazed at the number of cars, motorcycles, and tuk tuks that fit through the tiny cobblestone streets of the city.  We had the opportunity to see some of the old history, some churches, the market, and my favorite Saritas (the ice cream shop).  I am sad that the week is ending, but I know many of us will be back.  This has been an experience that I will never forget and an opportunity to go back to Utah with the same passion and understanding that we have gained here and know will move us forward in our relationship with Jesus as well as our faith.

Juntos por siempre.  “Together Forever.”

Ephesians 3:17-19

“Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him.  Your roots will grow down into Gods love and keep you strong.  And may you have the power to understand, as all Gods people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep is His love.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully.  Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
