Pastor Carlos grew up in extreme poverty and abuse, and now reaches out to those living in similar circumstances. After successfully rescuing and raising children living at the city dump, he began caring for families with special needs children and feeding the most vulnerable. He currently helps over 200 families who have special needs children and runs 49 feeding centers in northern Nicaragua.
Many of the families he serves are single mothers who cannot work much or at all due to the constant care needed by their children. many live in makeshift structures and less than optimal conditions. There is a great need for housing. Teams that provide financial resources and labor to accompany the local building crew are welcome. A note from a ministry friend;
“…the kids of our Mercy Ministry are very poor. Of the 195 disabled kids we bring food and household supplies to, about 80 families don’t have latrines. And at this point 34 or so don’t have beds.”
