Day 2! Today we got the flow of things down pat, and we are settled into the new space. I was in Triage with Izzy, my wonderful translator. In Triage, I get the privilege of taking vital signs and listening to the patients’ stories and why they have come to outreach. I then communicate all of that to our providers via the computer system. The kids and elderly patients bring a special joy to the day and it is a blessing to be able to help in any small way I can.

One patient today came through Triage again after the initial assessment for a vital sign recheck. She was extremely anxious about a dental procedure that she was about to have done. We were able to pray with her and, as a team, we watched as the Lord calmed her nerves. She went on to have her dental work successfully completed. I felt blessed to be able to take part in this patient’s care and help make some small difference in her life.

I ended the day counting pills with the team, which is its own satisfying process and allows for some good ol’ team bonding. Tomorrow will be Triage again for me and likely some ear cleanings (which I just learned how to do yesterday). Excited to see what the day brings and what the Lord holds for all of us!

Today was day two of the medical outreach, and it was a great day! I have been in triage, gathering temperatures, weights, and heights on all patients coming to see the doctors. Yesterday, I had a translator, Maylin and over the day, I got to know her. I started the day with her but her help was needed elsewhere, so I got to use my (broken) Spanish to communicate. It has always been a goal for me to be able to speak Spanish and today, I really got to practice and feel like I am slowly reaching my goal!

Every morning, Willy and Sofia start our day with worship and devotion. We have been going through John 15 this week and today specifically versus 5 through 8 where Jesus tells us He is the vine and we are the branches, and with both together, will bear fruit. During some down time, I got the chance to reflect on this and with Him, anything is possible no matter how big or small. It is so incredible to be here and see how prevalent God is here and in His people, and how blessed we are to be able to help provide care to these patients – all because of Him!
