This is my third time being here with Healing Nations in this beautiful country. The good it does my heart is beyond words. I love the opportunity to serve beside Abita, the dentist here in Guatemala. She is a breath of fresh air and keeps me laughing even with a line down the hall. The one thing that stands out to me is the care she gives each patient and the way she soothes their nerves.
We had a patient today that is the mother of some children we have seen previously, and she came to see us because she knew that we would take good care of her. Seeing patients that we have seen many times is such a neat experience because we are able to see the progress they have made in taking care of their teeth.
Something that stands out to me is that I can communicate with the patients and volunteers even though we don’t speak the same language. I keep saying I am going to learn Spanish and each time I come back I have failed to do so.
I am positive I will be back again, and I encourage anyone, who has the ability, to take the opportunity to come and serve these beautiful people.

Wow, what an amazing mission this has been with Healing Nations. I am so incredibly grateful to have had this opportunity for so many reasons. First and foremost, I am grateful for all the new friends I have made both with Healing Nations (what an amazing group of people), and the people of Guatemala. Second, I am grateful to be able to witness a new culture. It is very humbling to see how the people of Guatemala live. Most importantly, I am so incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to serve the people of Guatemala, it will be a treasured memory I will have for many, many years to come. It is very comforting to know that the impact I have left has been small, but I truly believe that I have left an impact on the lives of some, while here.
